If one of our servers at Vultr has a hardware failure, our team has a process for restoring to new hardware in minutes:
As a HostiFi customer, you don't have to rely on our disaster recovery plan. You can create your own, and we recommend doing so:
Ubiquiti does not have a high availability feature for either UniFi or UISP. As such, HostiFi also is unable to support high availability for our customers servers. However, with our disaster recovery plans we are able to restore servers from previous backup within minutes.
Network devices
If your HostiFi server is offline your network devices will continue to operate as they did before because all of their configuration is stored locally. That includes RADIUS authentication on wireless networks, and VPN remote users on the USG. The authentication occurs on the RADIUS server or the USG itself, not on the server side.
Device configuration
Devices configurations can't be changed locally so the server would need to be restored before changes can be made again.
Network statistics
Network statistics in UniFi will show a gap during the time period in which the server had an outage, but statistics before and after will be visible.
Captive Portals
If you are using captive portals inside UniFi, those users will be unable to access the internet while the controller is offline. We recommend creating second guest SSID and writing down the password. You can hand that network name and password out temporarily during an outage. If captive portals need to always be online we recommend looking into a different solution which can support high availability.
