Does the UISP Console require a public IP?

The short answer is no. The UISP Console uses a cloud proxy, similar to the unifi.ui.com system that Ubiquiti uses for UniFi devices, such as UniFi Protect and UniFi Network.

The UISP Console gets assigned its own FQDN (Fully Qualified Domain Name) which will be something like johndoe.uisp.com and this will then be forwarded to the relevant UISP Console in the backend. The devices then subsequently talking to UISP Console, such as the EdgeRouters, NanoStations etc will be correctly forwarded to the correct UISP Console.

The benefit of the cloud proxy is that it can sit behind a network that uses CGNAT for example, such as Starlink.
