Things to check

• UISP requires that end devices have an active internet connection, make sure this is the case.
• Make sure the device you are trying to connect to UISP has the most recent firmware installed. Sometimes Ubiquiti changes how devices connect to UISP and it might be that the version of firmware is out of date.
• When connecting to UISP with a domain name, make sure DNS is correctly configured on the device.
• If you are having issues with the domain name in UISP, try using the IP address for the server instead.
• Some devices like airMAX (NanoBeam, NanoStation etc) have an option for setting an NTP client. This ensures that the time the device has is consistent with the UISP server. This can, sometimes be required to be enabled.
• If you are using a custom domain name for UISP, make sure that the CNAME record has properly provisioned to the wider internet first. You can use dnschecker.org to verify this.

Advanced Steps

Sometimes more steps might be required. For example, in very rare cases when performing a migration, some devices can not reach the new UISP hostname.

If required this can be resolved using SSH. For airMAX and GigaBeam devices, follow the following steps:

• SSH into the device
• Edit the /tmp/system.cfg file
• Edit the unms.uri field and put in your UISP key.
• Run /usr/etc/rc.d/rc.softrestart save and the device will do a soft restart.

These commands have no validation and may result in losing access to the device. Be extremely careful.
