We made UniFi OS Server available to new HostiFi customers earlier this year in February, with existing customers receiving it shortly afterwards. After UniFi OS Server was rolled out, some of the ways we test, deploy and update customer servers has changed as a result.
One of the main benefits we offer to customers is the fact we do the hard work by testing and updating the latest UniFi Network updates. However, the way that UniFi OS Server works is that there is now a separate software release for UniFi OS Server itself and another for UniFi Network.
Currently, customers can manually update UniFi Network on their UniFi OS Server instances, but not the core UniFi OS Server OS just yet. For the time being, these updates are still automatically rolled out by HostiFi, once we deem that release to be safe to use.
Going forward, we'll always be stress testing and making sure that any potential bugs and issues are noticed before things are deployed to customers. However, for those users who need a bit more autonomy, we are working on a way for updates of the UniFi OS Server itself to be managed manually by customers. This is in addition to the manual UniFi Network updates that can be done already.
