The UniFi Application has had the ability to cache firmware for UniFi devices, such as APs, switches and gateways. If you have a large UniFi installation, you may want to enable the firmware cache.
If you want fast and reliable UniFi hosting, check out HostiFi with expert support, regular backups, managed updates and prices from $19 per month.

If you have a local UniFi Network application and the UniFi devices don't have internet access, the application will store a copy to be used at a later stage. This will avoid multiple internet downloads for the same firmware each time.
If you have a HostiFi hosted UniFi Controller, there might not be much benefit in enabling firmware caching, as the server is cloud based as it will have to reach out to the internet. However, with the high speed network our provider Vultr runs, it might have some speed benefits.
To cache firmware, go to Settings > System > Maintenance > Updates. The firmware caching settings are located under Advanced. Here you can setup device update schedules, as well as manage cached firmware.

Custom Upgrades (that come directly from the Internet to a UniFi device) don't appear for cacheing.
