Ubiquiti launches three new Enterprise WiFi 7 APs
Ubiquiti has today revealed the E7, E7 Campus and E7 Audience
December 2, 2024
In the last few weeks, Ubiquiti has launched a lot of new things, we have had UniFi Network 8.0.7 (Which we are testing currently), new AI Theta Pro lenses and camera and then most notably, is the new UXG-Lite. The new UXG-Lite is on sale now in the US and EU.
This device popped up in some FCC fillings recently, it then showed up in public for the first time at the WISPAPALOOZA show in Las Vegas in October. However, in the last week or so Ubiquiti added it to the main ui.com website.
Shortly afterwards, Ubiquiti then added it to pretty much all of its official stores and then on 20th November, it became available to order in the US and the EU for $129 and €144 respectively. In Canada and the UK, it is still marked as "coming soon," however.
Essentially, this is the replacement for the USG-3P, the very popular small form factor gateway which was Ubiquiti's first gateway device designed to work with the UniFi Network Application. The UXG doesn't host the UniFi software, instead like its big brother the UXG-Pro it is just a standalone routing device, with all of the smart and intelligent features that come with that.
When the UXG Pro was announced back in 2020, it took around two years for it to be finally available. Ubiquiti has seemed to have moved a bit quicker with this one thankfully and people have been asking for this kind of device for ages. The ageing USG-3P was becoming just that, aged. The new features that UniFi was offering such as VPN server, VPN client, IPS/IDS, QoS and much more was starting to take its toll on the USG hardware. For example, it could only handle a max of 85mbps with all of the features enabled - in comparison, the new UXG-Lite can do 1Gbps with everything enabled.
The UXG-Lite, just like the UXG-Pro can be added to self-hosted UniFi Contollers, including HostiFi.
HostiFi provides hosting for both Ubiquiti and TP-Link software-defined-networking (SDN) applications, with servers for UniFi, UISP and Omada. We also offer professional networking consulting, with HostiFi Pro.
