UniFi Switch update 7.2.120 has been pulled from GA and demoted to RC
September 12, 2025
Should the USG and USG Pro 4 still be deployed in 2025? The short answer is no, it should not be used as Ubiquiti declared both of these models end of life (EoL) in November 2024 and therefore no future software or security updates will be available.

The USG and USG Pro 4 were Ubiquiti's first gateway devices that could be managed by the UniFi network controller. From its original launch, the feature set was fairly limited and was based on EdgeOS, although EdgeOS had a lot of command line options, this was not officially supported by Ubiquiti for the USG.
Over the years the software capabilities did improve greatly but ultimately Ubiquiti started making hardware more capable of higher traffic, more devices and more CPU intensive applications.
With the latest versions of UniFi, it is no longer possible to even adopt any of the USG devices to the controller and instead in its place, Ubiquiti now has a whole range of replacments such as the UXG Lite, UXG Max, UXG Pro, UXG Fiber and Gateway Enterprise.
These new devices have better specifications and more capable of handling increased data rates.
It is not recommended to install the USG or USG Pro 4, due to the lack of ongoing software support and security.
HostiFi provides hosting for both Ubiquiti and TP-Link software-defined-networking (SDN) applications, with servers for UniFi, UISP and Omada. We also offer network consulting, with HostiFi Professional Services.
