Like the Ultra switches that the company released a while back, the UniFi UPS doesn't support SSH - which means remote adoption can bit a bit tricky if you don't have a UXG on the network. How to adopt with a UXG

This is the simplest method, as if you already have a UniFi Gateway adopted to your UniFi Controller, then any UniFi device plugged into the same network will automatically pick up the UniFi inform URL for remote adoption. All you need to do is log into UniFi and then click adopt. This applies to any UniFi APs or UniFi switches.

How to adopt the UniFi UPS with a remote UniFi Controller

If you are not using a UXG and using a third-party firewall, then this process needs additional involvement.

To get started, download the HostiFi Device Discovery Tool if you haven't already, or update your existing app to version 3.0.3 or later. To update the desktop version open the app and leave it open for 1-2mins, it'll then download the latest update in the background and then it'll let you know once it has finished. If you have the mobile version, visit the App Store or Google Play listing and check if there is an update available.

Next, plug in your UniFi UPS into the same network as your laptop or mobile device and run the HostiFi Device Discovery Tool app. It'll then find the UPS on the network, then make sure your inform URL is entered into settings and then click Adopt. Within a few seconds, it'll appear ready for adoption.
